I had been slowly tidying up my old teenager fake jewellery stash. There is a pile of dirty or rusted old jewellery that no longer shines, which I can't bear to look at, can't wait to dispose it. Before I do that, I need to put its design down in the little books.

This time I sketched more hair with a rear view. It is even clearer to see how the hairstyle works from a rear view.

Compared to male hair, female hair had one more aspect to be considered in hair design. Since female hair tends to be long, there opened up a while new area of how to tie the hair.

Gladly Ivllen has not much problem in deciding her style. I actually love how the hair and dress turned out. I guess less attachment to the character helps in setting my expectation bar low and in turn outperform what I expect.
She is a righteous character, very true to herself and very adventurous. Yet, she still have her more feminine side where there are portions when her different interests conflicts each other. For example, her preference to beauty and comfort had to be compromise when she is out for the air of freedom.
The 3 main female characters I have, the other two are not so fashion orientated, Ivllen is my only channel to explore all these various dresses.

Forcing out 6 more hairstyles for male. The top centre and top right seemed to be a bit femine. lol. I totally messed up the long curly hair at top right. Maybe I can fix that with a more manly face features.

I figured that since I would most probably struggle with hairstyle design, I planned to doodle various hairstyle as I please in my free time to build up a library. So when I am creating a character hopefully I could extract from the library.

One of the main characters, Wisfan is a thoughtful and cunning merchant. Always having wide broad smiles and establishing good relationships with people. The most uncertain portion of him is the hair... I would like to style a hair that is cheerful and a bit more tidy...
hmm... need to make him look... much mature also. I have the habit of making the eyes big, really need to size it down. haha.

It came to a point that I have written so many words for this NaNo story that I begin to forget details. While I was tidying the book shelves yesterday, I counted there are still quite a few blank books to be used. I picked up one book and figured I might as well re-read the story from the beginning and start keeping an illustrated version of the story, which should help remember the story and imagine all various things already existed in the story better.
A simple blond hair bar maid, she is a passer by character, but fill up the space nicely. lol.

Because fake rings is so much cheaper than necklace which come with the pendant, so I have more rings than pendants.

I dropped by my old house yesterday and picked back my old collection of fake jewelleries that I collected in my teenage days. Many of those are rusty since they are indeed cheap stuff, needed to be discarded. However, I love the designs very much and figured I could include it in my mini sketchbook for jewelries.
At this point I just doodle some of them as a practice.

Ancient times, tieing is a very useful and essential skills for daily life and for costume. A simple clothing could be just a big piece of cloth and some strategic knots. I did a simple check up on knots.

By far, this is the worst attempt in figuring out the clothing. :/ I need to revisit the story to get a feel of the character once again.

Designed around 3 capelets, 3 hair accessories, 3 belts, 3 shoes for Saffrille. This is a warm up before going into the important dress. Right now, these are all casual type clothing which she would be wearing most often in the story. Currently design the clothing based on the simple 4 seasons.
Using the chance of designing costume for Saffrille, I also revisit the fabric research I had done few years ago. It is kinda hard to remember the characteristic of each fabric without really touching it, since the fabric had a lot to do with the sense of touch.

Tried some hairstyle and accessories. I am thinking of some loose braids with the head band tail braid in with the hair.
I think I would be able to come out with a basic clothing design for Saffrille by tomorow, hopefully.

First sketch of Saffrille. hmm, need to finalize the robes and sandals detail. Not really sure about the hair style yet.

I folded variety of papers in signatures, marker paper, sketch paper, calligraphy papper, pastel paper and bristol paper.
First try at Coptic stitch, fun but quite loose. Added a book mark charm thing on the cover with left over strings.
